Michael made the decision to pursue a future in law after he suffered a catastrophic injury to his spine, and, as a result, he chose to leave his career in the insurance industry to become an advocate for others who are injured. Michael began his legal career at a boutique Portland law firm, where he specialized in personal injury law. Michael believes that the work he does, not only helps his clients, but strengthens the Portland community by helping those with their legal needs. Michael Tabata was born and raised in Portland, graduating from Jesuit High School, and receiving his law degree from Lewis and Clark Law School. He is also active in the community, having coached Portland youth football, basketball, and is a marital arts instructor in Aikido. As a former Division I football player at the University of San Diego, Michael remains active and enjoys playing wheelchair basketball, fishing, swimming, hand cycling, and training Aikido.
